Coliform are agroup of bacteria used as indicators of water quality. The presence of Coliforms indicators poor quality of drinking water and ice that can cause gastrointestinal diseases. The Ministry of Public Health’s Food Acts No. 61 (1981 B.C.) and No. 78 (1984 B.C.) specify the limits of Coliform in drinking water and ice, however, the amount of Coliforms over the limits has still been found. The Department of Medical Sciences has deceloped a test kit for consumers to self-detect Coliform in water and ice that can be get the result within 24 hours.
